The
Cultural Association Orientalia Parthenopea sprung within the milieu of the Università degli
Studi di
Napoli
“L’Orientale” thanks to a group of young researchers who
completed their studies there or carried out their post-graduate
research work in the same university.
The
Association is a non-profit organization, whose aim is to encourage,
through its multifaceted activities, the study and the diffusion of
knowledge generally associated with orientalistic disciplines. The
ultimate aim is to provide a forum for scholars working in such
areas as the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe, Near and Middle East,
Inner Asia and South and
East Asia
.
To
accomplish its objectives the Association intends to promote the
following activities:
1.
to organize scientific
and cultural events such as conferences, seminars and study groups.
Moreover in order to enhance also the visual dimension of these
cultures it contemplates the promotion of events utilizing
photographs, cinematic works and live performances;
2.
to engage in editorial
and multimedia activities that would lead to the publication of its
own periodicals;
3.
to set up a teaching
program which shall provide language and area courses;
4.
to furnish the needed
know-how that is specific area research, translation interpreters,
to institutions, private firms and individuals;
5.
to assist in the
organization and guidance of both tourist travel and official
delegations;
6.
to promote twinning
agreements between Italian and foreign cities;
7.
in the presence of the
growing economic and commercial ties with the afore mentioned areas
the Association intends to furnish any needed assistance, in
particular to engage in promotional activities;
8.
to set up permanent
study centers and archives;
9.
to encourage any other
activity related to the promotion of the Association’s basic
goals.
